About
Certified meatless was created to designate foods and consumer products as completely devoid of landed slaughtered animal meat and their by-products. In this present day marketplace, it is nearly impossible to differentiate meatless foods from ones containing meat and their by-products without in-depth research of the composition of ingredients.
This blog has been created to provide you with up-to-date commentary on the certified meatless movement.
I have heard of meatless fridays. but what is the significance of meatless wednesdays? Is meatless wednesday somthing that is prescribed for fasting purposes?
Meatless Wednesday is a matter of tradition. Ash Wednesday is a meatless day fast day where a practicing Catholic is to abstain from meat. In olden times, Wednesday and Fridays were meatless wednesdays and meatless fridays. This was to supplant the previous devotion of abstaining from meat for the whole Lenten period
Then, according to the definition CM-LO can contain whale or dolphin meat…..
Just messin’ with you, Ray. Cheers and Happy New Year!
This is a fascinating point! It brings me back to when I was skiing in Chamonix in the French Alps five years ago. It was during Lent (but not a Friday!) and I took a chance on eating some frogs’ legs! Tough one,eh? So I took the gamble and had them because everyone else offered the opinion that : 1) Amphibian, so therefore partially landed meat but 2)Non milk bearing! So I would pass on our sea faring mammals and disqualify them from my harvest. If you look on the offerings, there are no whale or dolphin meats on the listings! Dziekuje bardzo to our good friend in the Great White North!
As to the Mediterranean diet: don’t forget about the vast quantities of red wine that act as digestive catalyst from a very young age.
